THE TRAVEL BUGAshley made her first trip to Europe in 2016 and was completely hooked. There was no place she didn't want to see - except, maybe, Spain.
Other than her native country the Dominican Republic and current home in the United States, Helen hadn't traveled anywhere. Her dream? Spain. |
FIRST STOP: BARCELONA
Capital of Catalonia
Barcelona was a feast for the eyes and the palate. The architectural masterpieces of Antoni Gaudi (including Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera and Park Guell) were stunning and surreal. The cuisine, including paella, pintxos and Crema Catalana washed down with a Rioja or Txakoli (a sparkling dry white wine), left us longing for more days to indulge!

SECOND STOP: MADRID
Masterpieces to Marvel
Madrid was as gorgeous as Barcelona, but in its own very different way. We found it sophisticated and sleek, with museums (Prado, Reina Sofia) chocked full of masterpieces that left us speechless. The Royal Palace and El Retiro Park were just icing on the cake. The food scene did not disappoint here, either, with excellent wine and tapas at every turn.
